Digital Flex Media, a leader in CD and DVD replication disks and technology, has announced that it has launched a line of Rub ‘n Smell discs
to “help businesses, marketers and advertisers cost-effectively connect with and influence” their target markets with scent marketing.
The scent is incorporated into the ink and varnish used to coat the company’s disks. According to the company, the scent activates when rubbed and lasts for a few seconds each time. Disks can retain their scent for years and the intensity of the smell can be controlled by scenting a larger or smaller area.
Scents offered currently include fresh fruit, flowers, coffee, pizza, chocolate and more, but the company can also use custom scents or fragrances supplied by clients.
Mohab Sabry, CEO of Digital Flex Media is enthusiastic about the new offering saying, “The Boston Herald, Media Post, New York Post and New York Times’ marketing research department discovered that when given a choice between two similar foods or beverage products, 81% of customers preferred the one that they could smell and see vs. just see. That means scent doesn’t just alter customer behavior – it profoundly shifts it in one direction. Rub’n Smell™ Discs help businesses, marketers and advertisers benefit from this fact and get a definite, lasting edge in a competitive marketplace.”
